SynergyXR Release 3.7
What's new in SynergyXR v. 3.7
SynergyXR 3.7 turns a simple QR code into instant, aligned access, brings true multi-user coordination to hands-on procedures, and lets every learner train in their own language, wherever they are.
SynergyXR 3.7 release highlights
SynergyXR 3.7 is about making training feel effortless, whether you are walking onto a factory floor, working side by side with a colleague, or rolling out a procedure across a dozen countries. Getting into a session and aligned with your physical space is now as simple as a single scan. Procedures can now demand real teamwork, with steps that only complete when two people, or two hands, act together. And content built once can now speak every language your workforce needs, automatically. Welcome to SynergyXR 3.7!
QR codes: scan to align, scan to start
Aligning a physical space used to mean a manual setup process every time a new session started, and getting users logged in and into the right space added another step on top. SynergyXR 3.7 collapses both into a single scan. Each physical space can now be tied to a QR code that anchors virtual content to the real world the moment it's scanned, on iOS/iPadOS, and Meta Quest. Print a space-specific code or use a universal one from SynergyXR Manager, and any device lines up instantly, with a quick realign option always on hand if something shifts.
On iOS and iPadOS, that same QR code can also carry encrypted login credentials, so scanning it with the native camera app logs a user in and drops them straight into the space, no manual sign-in required. Spaces can be set up for single-user sessions, where each scan starts a private training, or multi-user sessions, where anyone scanning the same code lands in the same active session together. For teams training side by side on a factory floor or in a warehouse, it means everyone ends up aligned and in sync from the first scan.
Coordinated Operations: real teamwork, built into the procedure
Some tasks are only safe, or only realistic, when two things happen at exactly the same time: two safety switches pressed together, two hands operating a tool in tandem. Until now, Procedure Builder treated multiple operations in a single step as completable in any order. With Coordinated Operations, builders can now require that a set of operations all reach their "ready to complete" state at the same time before the step advances.
This opens the door to training that mirrors real two-handed or two-person tasks, and it works just as well across a multi-user session as it does for a single learner using both hands. It's a small setting with a big effect on how realistic and rigorous your procedures can be, particularly for safety-critical work where simultaneity is the whole point.
Multi-language content: every learner, their own language
Procedures already support multiple languages for guidance text, but the images, videos, sounds, and 3D models attached to a step used to be the same for everyone regardless of language. SynergyXR 3.7 changes that. Builders can now attach a language-specific variant of any piece of content, and learners automatically see the version that matches their selected language, with no extra setup needed at runtime.
A simple flag-based indicator in Procedure Builder shows at a glance which languages already have a variant and which are still falling back to the original content, so nothing gets missed while localizing a procedure. For organizations training across multiple countries or sites, it means one procedure can genuinely serve every audience, rather than being a compromise between them.
Closing
SynergyXR 3.7 is about removing the friction between your team and their training: one scan to get aligned and logged in, procedures that demand and support genuine teamwork, and content that meets every learner in their own language. Together, these updates make it easier to roll out training at scale without asking any less of the experience along the way. We can't wait to see what your teams build with it.

SynergyXR 3.7 – technical release notes
QR code anchors for physical spaces
- SynergyXR now supports QR codes to anchor sessions to the physical space
- When creating a physical space, users now have the option to specify a QR code that will act as the positional anchor for the virtual content in the space
- Users can download a generic QR code from SynergyXR Manager which can be used as a universal alignment QR code for any space. Alternatively, users can generate a QR code for a specific space – more about this below.
- When loading or joining a physical space with an associated QR code, the user is asked to scan the QR code to align the virtual content to the physical space
- This feature is supported on the following devices: iOS/iPadOS, and Meta Quest devices, allowing seamless multi-user cross-device sessions that are fully aligned with the physical space
- Users are always able to re-align the space – use the dedicated button under “Options -> Realign” to restart the QR code scanner
- SynergyXR still supports manual alignment for spaces without an associated QR code
- When joining a physical space, the avatar of users is hidden to have a more seamless and natural experience
QR-code – embedded login and multi-user sessions
- To make launching a space even easier, users can embed encrypted user credentials when generating a QR code – very similar to how we manage the LMS PC Auto launch flow.
- Users now also have the option to define if the session should be single-user or multi-user
- Single-user session ensures each user ends up in their own separate session, allowing the user to complete the training on their own when scanning the QR code
- Multi-user session allowing multiple users to end up in the same session when accessing the space at the same time when scanning the QR code. When a user scans the QR code, SynergyXR checks if a session is already active, automatically adding the user to the active session – if not, a new session is automatically created
SynergyXR for MacOS – now on official app store
- SynergyXR is now available on the official MacOS app store – there is no longer any need for manual download of app packages and manually updating SynergyXR
- This ensures all SynergyXR client applications are now available on official app stores, making download and updates seamless no matter which hardware platform you prefer to use
Voice communication – new muted default and distance control
- When joining a session in SynergyXR, users now do so with a muted microphone to avoid people talking over one another
- At any point, users can un-mute from the menu
- If SynergyXR detects that the user is talking, a pop-up is shown letting the user know that they are muted, and a simple button is presented allowing the user to easily un-mute
- In the Object List, you can now control the “Max voice distance” allowing you to control at what distance users can hear each other when talking. This value can be set between 10 and 100 meters, with 40 being the default. If set to 100, there is no attenuation to the voice no matter how far apart users are. This value is saved into the Space.
Procedure Builder – Coordinated Operations
- In the past, specifying multiple operations in a single step allowed the user to finish these in any arbitrary order.
- We have now added the option to specify multiple operations as “Coordinated Operations”.
- This means that all operations must be completed “at the same time” – meaning they must all satisfy their “ready to complete” condition at the same time.
- This can be used to e.g.:
- Ensure users press two safety switches at the same time (using two Press operations)
- Allow users to use a tool in each hand simultaneously, e.g. for using a multi-meter (using two Use Tool operations)
- There are no limitations on the number of operations, but please ensure it is possible for users to complete all operations in a coordinated way.
- This works great in a multi-user session as well – there are no restriction to who completes the different operations – only that they are completed simultaneously.
- N.B. 2D platforms like PC and mobile devices have a harder time completing several operations at the same time – so please design your procedures accordingly.
Procedure Builder – Multi-language support for all content
- We have added support for content variants for the languages specified in a procedure. This means that you can have separate images for each supported language, and the user will automatically see the relevant image based on the language selected.
- All content is supported: 3D models, videos, images and sounds.
- When adding a new piece of content, users now have the option to add a variant of the content for one or more of the languages specified in the procedure
- If no variant is defined, the “original content” is shown
- Each of the languages defined in the procedure has a corresponding flag in the UI. Each flag has a small indicator showing if there is a variant specified for the given language – a grey ring with a white center if no variant is defined, and a full blue dot if a variant is defined.
- This same indication is shown for language variants of the guidance text in each step
- Question texts show the number of specified variants next to each question/answer. Clicking the number will show a dropdown with flag and variant indicators
Procedure Builder – Event groups
- We have introduced event groups as a way to group events in the procedure builder
- Event groups can collapse to provide a better overview in the events tab
- In addition, we have changed the Toggle Event action allowing users to enable/disable individual events as well as entire event groups
- The UI of the Toggle Event action has also been changed. Users now select events and/or event groups from a drop down and define if the individual event/group is enabled/disabled with a simple toggle checkmark
- It is also possible to choose how the editor preview scene is synchronized for each individual event group as a builder setting
Procedure Builder – Guidance override
- Many users found the Override Settings operation hard to use, so it has now been removed
- Instead, we have added a new Guidance setting in the Misc tab
- In addition to defining colors of visual guidance, users can now set “Step guidance settings” with similar option to the old Override Settings operation – but set it once for the entire procedure.
- In addition, there is a new “Event guidance setting” which enables users to specify the visual guidance used for events
